good things come in little black packages.

I received one of these black packages for the second time ever, earlier this week.
Inside was my long awaited Black Milk galaxy leggings. I had ordered them last month, but in the original galaxies, in small. Normally, I'd size up but everyone on the facebook group always talked about sizing down because of the stretch.
Unfortunately, I found out after receiving them that they don't stretch nearly as much as they're given credit for. When I took them out of the package, I was surprised how small they looked. Kind of like the little pants in the kiddy section. I was able to squeeze on the smalls, which were skin tight and resulted in a massive muffin top.
So I decided to spend that extra $20 to get an exchange. I probably could have and should have gone for a medium, but I didn't want to take the risk of them fitting like the small sized ones do, so I went for the large.
As expected, they are all-around loose, minus the waist part which fits relatively well. I wish the could be a little less loose, but I do prefer them much
over the muffin top. If they aren't comfortable, I can't see myself wearing them.
If it weren't for my sizing issue, these are the most amazing things I've ever worn. Probably'll go for a medium next time. Gosh, I hate not being able to try things on. The problem with online shopping.

just like that.

listening to "Monster" by Super Junior

Whenever I listen to Korean music, I always sing the English parts and hum everything else. Korean is so hard to sing. It's like tongue twisters for me. Sometimes I want to learn the language just so I could sing. Here, have a blurry picture.
No outfit post today. I went out to buy some makeup and makeup remover to practice with for next week. I was recruited as a waitress for my school's Japanese cultural festival next week. And I'm supposed to be like. Cute or something. So I'm practicing using makeup for that.

Ooh yeah, fun stuff. I got a package today from Petticoat Junction. Flippin huge package. I haven't posted clothing purchases for a while.
It's a bag off poof! So fluffy, oh gosh. I've wanted a Malco Mode petticoat for a while, but held off on buying one because I kept telling myself I didn't need it and it was too expensive. Well, I finally caved in. I bought Malco Mode 582 in Natural. It was between natural and white, and I went with natural because I like off white better than pure white. A lot of people buy Malco Mode pettis in petite for the length, so I almost bought a small instead of medium. So glad I went with medium. It's already kind of tightish in medium.
This is the reason I haven't posted a room photo for the past couple weeks. Can't even walk in here. I swear, I trip and slip on stub my toes on everything in here. It's not messy because I'm a messy person. Rather, I'm trying to clear my shelves, drawers, and closet of things that I don't want anymore to sell or give away before college. There's boxes and boxes of manga in front of my closet. I can't even get to my closet. There has to be around 200 books in those boxes. And that doesn't even count the ones that I'm keeping. It's spring cleaning time.

and no one even knew it was really only you.

listening to "You're Gonna Go Far, Kid" - The Offspring

It's May. There's so many things going on this month. School work has finally cooled down a bit, but I feel busier than ever. Today at school, I watched movies in two different periods and hung around with no work in all of the other classes. But by the time I get home, I feel like I have a million things to do. Yesterday, I had five things to do on my agenda and only got through three. So. This was yesterday's outfit, but I didn't get around to posting it.

shirt from F21, cardigan from flea market, flower brooch from flea market, leggings from JC Penny, shoes from Salvation Army.
I don't think I've posted this outfit before, but I wouldn't be surprised if I had. It's on dailybooth from a couple years ago.

I'd been suffering from sugar deficiency for ages. I finally went to the stores to buy some candy yesterday. Easter items are on sale from 75% to 90%! Scoreeee. Those Swedish Fish Eggs aren't as good as I thought they'd be.

A few days ago, this mystery box arrived at my door with my name on it. I couldn't figure out why because I hadn't bought anything from Amazon in a while.
I opened them and it was a pair of earbuds. At first, I was pretty freaked out because I didn't tell anyone that I needed earbuds. Then I remembered that I didn't have earbuds because my brother took them from me. My brother had this one pair of earbuds that he lost, so he ordered another pair and then a backup pair. Then he found the pair that he lost and ended up with three pairs, so he have one to me. But then he lost both of the other pairs, so he stuffed he pair he gave me in his pocket when he found them lying on my desk.
He originally had the black pair, and this one that I received is the same style in a different colorway. So I concluded that it was from him. Aw. He can be sweet sometimes.

Thrift shopping has been less successful lately. I know I'm not taking the clothes I buy to college, so I haven't been buying any clothes on my thrift shop visits. So probably wont have many thrift tagged posts for a while.

april wishlist.

In the past few months since I started applying to colleges, I haven't been able to sit down and draw something for myself properly. Not even doodle. That's why I've decided to draw up a wishlist post once a month with some doodles of things I'm saving up for. Sure beats writing it up on a sticky note and slapping it on the wall like I usually do.
My white parasol broke earlier this week. It's probably fixable, but it's also kind of bent up and not in the best condition anymore, so I'll most likely buy a new one sometime soon.

In other news, I'm one item down on my wishlist! My Minolta came in today. My first purchase on ebay!
I'm reading through online manuals. They're so incredibly long. I'm not good with directions. Let's hope I get some good photos on this!

got mail?

Today's mail! It's a package from David at Seibei. I bought a couple mystery tees. Usually when I get grab bags, I get really nervous about getting something I don't like. But with Seibei, I was pretty confident that anything he gave me, I would like.
Open! Prepare for awesome.
Celebration, commence! And here, I got two of the ones I wanted the most! David is some kind of mind reader. The mint one is the one I wanted to buy last December at the Renegade Crafts Fair, but ran out of money for. I let my brother try on the SF Dino one, and now he wants to wear it to school. It looks good on him and I'd love to let him borrow it, but he always gets food or snot or something or the other on the shirts I let him borrow. The woes of being the same size as my brothers.

Here's me showing off my new favorite shirt. I don't know why I get so excited over bright colors when it comes to t-shirts. I wish I had bought more. Two's not enough! Though, there's no way I can buy anything more on my card in secret. Looks like I'll have to wait till the next crafts fair.

I've been getting a good amount of mail lately. Which is exciting. But 50% of it is stuff from colleges about financial aid and housing and gatherings and open house kind of stuff. The other percentages are college decision letters and magazines. I don't have time to read magazines anymore. 24 hours a day is not enough.

I received a few acceptance letters so far. I haven't shared any on my blog, I don't think, but because I've posted several times during the portfolio process, I wanted to share that I've been accepted at FIT!

Ayup, that's all for now.

aftermath.

My room has been relatively tidy for a while, but after I started working on the sewing portion of my FIT portfolio, somehow it ended up like this.
And this is after a bit of cleaning. A couple days back, I couldn't even walk to my desk from the door. As soon as all of my college apps are completed, I will clean this place up.

The past few days, I've been getting that "so much clothing but nothing to wear" kind of feeling. I used to dress up when I have free time, and then wear those outfits that I put together. But lately, I've only been wanting to rest or read comics in my spare time. I always thought seniors had it easy, until this year.

Today was a swacket day.
Despite there being so many ways to wear it, I seem to always wear it the same way. I also get really paranoid when wearing it because I don't want to get it dirty. A friend of mine ate curry for lunch today, and I was shifting away from her every second in fear for my swacket.

About the mystery mail mentioned in my previous post! It turned out to be this amazingly amazing calendar sent to be by TuyetDinhSinhVat.
I really love her work. If only I could watercolor half as well. Watercolor is my favorite medium, but it is also one of my weakest.

I don't know if I said anything about my optical mouse, but the scroll broke a couple months back, and doesn't do anything besides spin like a wheel. I went out and bought another one yesterday.
The left one is the one that broke. I wanted to buy a replacement for it, but I bought it in Taiwan and importing in a new one costs way too much. I got this mini Asus one to use until I can get me another egg mouse. It feels really, really small, and kind of feels like a toy.

Another thing, if I ever held a giveaway, what kinds of things would you guys like to see?

Gosh, I hope I can finish another college app today.

fit is fin!

Happy February, everyone! January just flew by. Sorry for the slow updates last month. I think there was a week that I didn't post at all. As soon as all my applications and tests are over, I'll bounce back on track with posts for sure. My FIT portfolio has been turned in, so I will post some designs or things I sewed in the next few days.

Sweater from Salvation Army, Scarf from Taiwan, pin from Harajuku Hearts store in San Francisco, skirt from J Daheck, Floral Docs.

I like to wear pins and brooches with everything. The thing is, I have a number of black ones that I'd like to wear, but I always end up wearing black, and black on black doesn't show.

I received a package today in the mail. It's been a while since my last online order! Getting things in the mail is so exciting.
Hahah more florals, indeed. Can't get enough of them. It's totally gorgeous, but the elastic isn't very stretchy and the minimum waist size is pretty darn small. Being a lover of comfortable and oversized clothing, I can't imagine I'll be wearing this all too often.

Also received one of those "sorry we missed you!" notes from the mailman. I can't imagine what I could have missed, since I don't recall buying anything as of lately. Interesting. I guess I'll just have to see.

merry christmas to me.

MY SHOES ARE HERE! My Doc Martens Victorian Flowers! They are an early Christmas gift from my dad. I told him that they can last for five years of regular use, so he's expecting me to not buy shoes for another five years now.

I had set my heart on this pair, and was heartbroken when the black ones were taken off the Docs website. I wrote an email to the company and was told that there would be more coming in sometime in February, but of course I didn't want to wait. After checking several websites, I was only able to find the brown/taupe version, preorders, or ones that weren't in my size. That's when I got a 20% off coupon code from Teen Vogue for Asos.
And behold, my most expensive pair of shoes.
I searched the website, and they had them! Choosing the size was the hard part, since I couldn't try them on. In most cases, I'm a size 7.5. In Ecko sneakers and Etnies, I'm a 6.5, and in Nikes and Forever 21 shoes, I'm more of an 8. My best bet, I thought, would be 7. The reviews about Docs running large were right. They're a little bit big on me, maybe a size or half a size too loose, but nothing an insert can't fix.

And now for the break-in process. I'll wear them for a week straight and hopefully they're adjust to me feet by then.

Love, Kai

my face is freezing off in sunny california.

shirt from Forever21, shorts from Taiwan

This morning was the coldest it's been pretty much all year. It was 32°F on my way to school. Normally, the temperature stays at a 40-50 range and doesn't drop that low. I'm extremely sensitive to cold (strange because I used to run around in short sleeves without a jacket in the winter all the time in elementary school an didn't think it was cold) and my hands are almost always cold. I'm afraid to wash my hands because the water in the restrooms are so cold, and if I wash my hands, then they don't warm up afterwards. I need to buy more hand sanitizer. I'd like to go to an east coast school, but I don't know how I'd fare with the climate there.

I wore my old favorite shirt that's been sitting in the back of my closet for months. I don't remember why I haven't been wearing it. Also wore shorts today because I can't stand wearing pants. Bad habit for the recent change in weather.

I can't believe how often I'm posting new clothes. Maybe this isn't a good thing. I received the second part of that Puma order in the mail. Jacket!
It's probably not hard to tell. It's from the mens' section. The selection in the womens' section consists of tight fitting pieces, which I dislike with a passion. That's why I buy smalls in men. Oh, also because my little brother likes this one so we could share.

My first thought when opening the package was I can't believe it's so light. My second thought was I can't believe it's so thin. And my first thought when trying it on was I feel like I'm wearing a garbage bag. I even thought about returning it. But before that, I had to let my brother try it on. When he did, I was fully expecting him to dislike it. Instead he told me he loved it. I asked him why, and he responded with the material is so cool, it feels like a trash bag!

picture from Princess Mina. From left to right, Oh Cabana Boy, Shine, and It's Up to Blue
I went to Ulta yesterday for the Seventeen magazine free Orly Nail polish offer. The colors that they were offering were Shine, Oh Cabana Boy, and It's Up To Blue. I'm not a terribly big fan of any of the colors, but if I had my pick, it would have been Shine. Unfortunately, by the time I arrived at the store, there was only one bottle left on the shelf.
Looks like someone spilled another color on top of it. Oh Cabana Boy is an outrageously bright, hot neon pink. Not exactly my color. Funny, I took a survey a couple days ago for a Secret Santa, and one of the questions was "list things you don't like." I put down "tight clothes and neon nail polish."

I was hoping to buy All Hail Mcqueen at Ulta too, but I walked around the store four times and could find it. A sales lady must have seen me wandering around helplessly and offered help. I asked her about the nail polish, and her manager told me that they didn't carry Butter London items in stores. Looks like that'll have to wait till after the holidays.

Last thing. Yes, another thrift store. Thrift Town this time! I found a 100% Banana Republic leather jacket which I would have loved to have, but it was two sizes too big, and I didn't want to pay $20 for a jacket that I probably wouldn't wear.
American Eagle crochet lace bolero! This cost me a buck.
Skirt! This one was $3. It's kind of an awkward length. But it's a nice floral print and I can't resist those.
Velvet floral elastic waist mom pants! Velvet is a turnoff for me. It used to be my obsession when I was in elementary school. I can't stand it now. And yet, I had to get these pants. It must be the floral print thing again. This one was three bucks also.

Oh snap it's past my bedtime and my hair is still wet.

am I crazy?!

coat from Taiwan, turtleneck top, Sechuna cat sweater, and tweed skirt thrifted.

Yes, today was cold. It was windy, rainy at times. And I received several "aren't you cold?" and even "are you crazy?!" questions throughout the course of the day. Yes, I was cold, but I'm cold everyday when I'm outside. I think they're referring to my lack of pants and wearing a skirt. Actually, I'm wearing a pair of nude tights. It's not that obvious, I suppose.

A package arrived in the mail today! It's an order from Puma. In sixth grade, Puma was my favorite brand (I was self dubbed Puma girl) and my dad remembered! He asked me to look through the sales section on Puma, because there was an additional 30% off on sales items on their site.
The shipment was broken into two packages. I ordered two t-shirts from the World Cup in Africa collection and a jacket. I haven't received the jacket yet. The shipping for this package impresses me, though. The order was made late at night on the 19th, and it's here already.

It's rainy today, so mushrooms have started popping out. I'm no mushroom expert, so I have no idea how to identify them. If anyone has a vast knowledge on mushrooms, I'd like to know what this is. This mushroom is medium sized, if that helps any.
My brother is terrified of mushrooms. When he was even younger, it was pinecones (which he is still afraid of-just not as much as before). My old room didn't have a lock, so if I wanted to keep him out, I'd leave a pinecone in front of my door and he'd steer away from it.

and thank you, daylight savings.

When I started my blog, I could take pictures at 6:30 and it would still be bright enough for the photos to be decent. Recently, I've had trouble getting good lighting when I get home from school at 4pm.

Oh right, I got a haircut yesterday. And here's today's outfit. Short hair makes my face look round. Not in this picture, but in some others. Right, so besides the haircut, I went thrift shopping yesterday. I was surprised by how much stuff I bought. Right away, I picked out two pairs of shoes. Sorry, my face is pixeled out because I was making some ridiculous face.
One of them was this pair. They're a little bit big, but I think I can add something to the bottom to make them fit better. Steve Madden wedges for ten bucks!
Besides this pair, I also bought a pair of Steven by Steve Madden snakeskin peep toe heels. These were only $6.99!
They're really tall. The inside is cushioned so they're actually pretty comfortable. I haven't tried walking in them yet, so maybe it's still to early to say that. Either way, I won't be wearing them anytime soon. I did make that post about not wearing heels anymore. Which reminds me, I still want a pair of Docs. And Nikes. Oh and I liked those sequined and black glitter oxfords at Forever21. Shoes, can't get enough of them. Too bad there's not enough money to go around to get them all. I think I'll just save up for those Docs first.

My magazines arrived, by the way. I love that I don't have to worry about not having space for them anymore. I wasn't careful and asked for a copy that I already had, instead of a different one that I wanted to order, so I'm going back for that one separately.

I got a copy of Marie Claire today too. Emma is kind of sort of incredibly cute. I love her new hair! I liked it before too, but that just shows she can rock any hairstyle.

I went off on a tangent again. I'll probably post my thrift shop purchases tomorrow, due to the poor lighting.

Love, Kai
