watch me fly.
Yesterday was dare to wear day at school. I had planned to wear my space orbit hat, but it didn't go with the rest of my outfit. I wore the mesh around my head the whole day, or else I'd look like I'm dressing up for dress-like-usual-day.

Surprisingly, I didn't get any nun comments. I did receive a couple widow and funeral comments, though.

I had my black MaM parasol to go with the outfit today, but I forgot to include it in the pictures. I really wanted to do unusual makeup for it, but then I saw my lack of makeup. And I don't know where my false lashes went.

Mesh headdress remnants from art class, Swacket from Harputs Union, crochet top from thrift, GLP miniskirt, J Daheck silk skirt, fabric remnant from Joann's, freebie tights, Dolce Vita for Target shoes.

Fabrics! I really love the shiny Joann's one. I'd love to make something out of it if I were better at sewing.

I love these shoes. Except for the fact that they scuff so easily. I was running to get in the picture before my timer went off and ran into a pipe opening that left some unpleasant scarring.

million miles away.
For my 100th post, I wanted to incorporate some art, because it's not often that I post art on my blog. I am a huge fan of galaxies and cosmic print. This was drawn for Red.

Written in the Stars is stuck in my head.
Here's an extension of my SoCal trip.

Berverly Hills is boss, man. The houses are so nice. There are tour cars going around introducing celebrity houses. It was kind of weird. I didn't have a car there, so it was a lot of public transportation and walking. Ohh the walking.
While I was in Los Angeles, I took a trip to Maxfield's, because I wanted to see Comme Des Garcons. I took a picture of their window display. It's not a very good picture, but I was afraid of taking any more pictures because guards are pretty.

I did ask a worker inside if I could take a picture with the statues, though. I got pictures with all of them.

I felt a little awkward and out of place, especially with so many people dressed in suits. The workers were welcoming, though. One worker commented on how she liked my shoes. Another commented on my cat sweater dress.
I didn't see as much Comme Des Garcons as expected. What really took my breath away were the Christopher Kane dresses. There were two different ones in the babydoll style with resort 2011 prints. My biggest regret was not having the guts to ask for a fitting room. There were people who were trying things on and taking pictures. I wish I could have done that.
Holy shoot holy shoot this one. It's so freaking gorgeous. I originally also wanted to go to Opening Ceremony for the Alexander Wang items and Christopher Kane tees. I don't think I can ever afford the dresses, but I can at least hope for a sale on the tees. I still want that Zara one that I missed out on. Things I like:

Christopher Kane dress from Farfetch.com, Christopher Kane tee from Opening Ceremony, Galaxy tee from Zara, pink cosmic dress from Opening Ceremony, Christopher Kane Resort 2011, G-Star Marc Newson galaxy Gore Tex Jacket.
I haven't been able to find that Zara top anywhere. If anyone is selling it, you know who to contact. Oh yeah, and the Comme Des Garcons for H&M collection. I remember coming across it years ago, and brushing it off. Another regret. There are some pieces from the collection that I'd like.
If I become a designer, expect to see space related designs.
I woke up at noon today. And then watched the Mugler show. There was quite a bit of tripping and stumbling going on. Gaga wore something like 10 inch heels and walked effortlessly. Now that's beast. Just checked; Mugler is finally on Style.com! I wasn't floored by anything I saw, really,in the show today. My favorite would be this one, but perhaps for the wrong reason. It reminds me of Alexander Wang.

I do like the second half of the menswear collection, though. I wish I could do that, for Dare to Wear day tomorrow. It's a bit late now, though.

makes my eyes bleed.
Gosh, I'm one post away from my 100th post. It's been just about half a year since I started blogging. I still sometimes feel like I just started.

Shirt from Super Crew, Jacket from Puma, pants from H&M, leggings from Aritzia, Docs from Buffalo Exchange
Today was neon day at school. If you haven't figured, it was a bit difficult for me because I don't have all that much color in my closet. Everything I have is sorted into the black pile, the while pile, the greys and beiges, and a pile for everything that doesn't fit in those categories. So I wore my Super Crew shirt, which is about as much neon as I have.
After some additional searching around, I remembered I had a bottle of fluorescent nail polish. It makes my eyes bleed a little bit. It looked a lot more obnoxious in real life compared to the picture. My mom told me that if me dad saw it, he would get a heart attack. So I took it off soon after arriving home

Orly "Oh Cabana Boy."
Sleep deprived all week, man. It's ridiculous. I get home, sit and do nothing for seven hours, and then remember to do homework, and go to sleep and 1, and then fall asleep in all my classes. Senioritis sucks.
Oh yeah, my Billboard Gaga issue was FedEx'd over today. Yeyeah.

Can't read it until I finish my research notes for my research paper. I can't find any sources. And I'm falling asleep any second now. And my research is due in like an hour and a half.

I am not a shopaholic.
Admittedly, I probably spend more money than anyone else in the family. But that's a given. No one else buys clothes. I was accused of being a shopaholic today for making 'several' purchases in the past week. Wearing a couple of them here.

Obey t-shirt and Docs from Buffalo Exchange, padlock chain necklace from Sex Pot Revenge, freebie donation tights.
While I was in LA, I passed by a Buffalo Exchange store, and thought it looked like a thrift store and wanted to go in, but I was in a hurry and wasn't able to. Coincidentally, I stumbled upon another one while I was in the OC.
After passing by the LA one, I looked for some reviews, and it's a pretty mixed bag. Personally, I really like the store. Because I was on my way to the airport when I passed by the shop, I only had about 20 minutes in the store. If I were at Goodwill, 20 minutes isn't nearly enough time for me to find something I like. I was surprised how quickly I was able to find things I liked at Buffalo Exchange. The clothes are screened and hand picked, so there were a lot of good pieces being sold. The catch is the prices. The prices are reminiscent of what you would see at Forever 21. Which isn't too bad, really. Though everything is secondhand, it all looks pretty new and free of rips and holes.
I left the store with two items.

An oversized Obey Clothing t-shirt and

A pair of vintage Doc Martens. They're design number 2071047, not the well known 1460 with yellow stitches, so I hesitated a little. But they're made in England and extremely comfortable and fit perfectly, so I could pass them up.
The total for these two items came up to be around $35, which is a lot more than I would spend at say, the Salvation Army. But I wouldn't mind visiting every once in a while as a treat.
On my last trip to Goodwill, I saw a pair of Dolce Vita Target shoes that I wanted, but were three full sizes too big for me. I planned on searching for them on eBay, but ended up not having to. They're on clearance on the Target website for $12, or $18 after shipping and tax. Bomb! New shoes under $20.

And the last of the purchases. I've made three separate trips to three different Kinokuniyas in the past week. I've now been to all four locations in California! Now I know price differences and that kind of stuff.

I was really surprised to see that the Los Angeles store had airmail magazines, and swoop up the April issue right away. I was so excited to get it because Midori is this month's covergirl. In the San Jose store, magazines take about a month to arrive, so I always get my issues a month late. I later went to the Costa Mesa location, which also had the airmail magazine, except a dollar cheaper. Ffffffff. And then saw that their Japanese manga were $1.40 cheaper. Fffffff. Japanese manga is expensive now, man. I might as well learn to read Chinese so I can buy Chinese manga and actually read it.
Oh wait, I lied.
I also bought more Seibei shirts yesterday. Couldn't help it.

too bad this isn't london. or japan.
I'm back from my trip! For the past few days, I was down in Los Angeles and the OC for school tours. I can't say the school tours were all that fun, but roaming the cities was pretty fun. I wanted to blog on the trip, but I didn't have a computer with me, aside from the Macs in the hotel lobby, which costs $5 for every fifteen minutes.
The airport was somewhat recently remodeled and looks really nice now.

My dad likes to get to places early, so we spent an hour or two sitting around. My brother and I went and took pictures in front of things. In front of Britt.

In front of Life is Good. I can't smile that wide. It's a disability.
On the first day in LA, we went to Little Tokyo. Lots of walking. I didn't think it would be cold, but it was a bit windy and chilly in the city. My sweater is knitted and full of holes, which didn't help much.

Little Tokyo is a nice place. I wish it could be combined with San Francisco Japantown to double the awesome.
One of the places that I was itching to visit was Q Pop. I told my dad: be on the lookout for a red shop. It didn't take long to find it. I ran to the first block of red I saw, and there it was!

I wish I could have gotten a better shot of the shop, but I wasn't sure if I could take pictures, and stood this picture from across the street all shaky and paranoid.
I browsed everything in the shop a couple times. There's a lot of cool stuff from different artists and some familiar Japanese brands. The interior design is incredible, as well as all of the art displayed in the store. I would have loved to buy everything if I could. I was going to buy a shirt with the Comme Des Garcons Play logo on it when my mom said that it was creepy, and any non artist would have thought a toddler could draw better. I told her that it was disrespectful, and she got angry and left. So when I was about to get up and buy it, I checked the price tag: $18. Then I checked my wallet: $18. Not enough money for tax. Bummer. And my money borrowing source just upped and left. So then I left too.
I later went back to the store and met Q Pop Shop's Chris Mitchell. Super cool guy!

It turns out that he went to the same high school as I do. One of those 'it's a small world' moments. I had the pleasure of talking to him about school and art and the shop. I felt kind of bad because I'm possibly the most awkward person in the world, and a terrible conversationalist to boot. My dad did a lot of the talking.
Hurgh bonus. Posing at the airport.

I took one for my brother too. He's much better at making the face than I am.
Love, Kai
